7 Steps for Healthier & Younger Looking Skin

1. Feed Your Skin: your skin health is dependent upon optimal nutrition, particularly important are antioxidants, especially beta carotene and vitamins A, C and E, which protect your skin from the onslaught of environmental free radicals as well as essential fatty acids to contribute to the formation of healthy new cells.

2. Drink plenty of clean water: 70% of the dermis, the inner layer of the skin, is water.  One of the main reasons our skin sags and wrinkles as we age is that the dermis loses about 30% of its total water content.  Drink 8 to 12 glasses of pure clean water every day.

3. Shield against UV radiation: most skin damage is caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight.  To prevent UV damage, you must protect your skin from both UVB rays which cause sunburn and UVA rays which penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, causing you to appear older than you are, as well as causing skin cancer in your later years.

4.  Stimulate new skin: most people receive 80% of their lifetime exposure to the sun by the age of 18, and by the time most of us reach our mid-30s, the long-term effects of UV exposure have already started to become visible.  Start by stimulating the growth of new epidermal cells, the most superficial layer of skin, with our alpha hydroxy acid hydrating serum and signature facial mitt. This is a natural substance that stimulates old cells to shed more rapidly, revealing the younger skin beneath the surface.  By doing so, this will increase the number of glycoaminoglycans, a complex molecule that helps skin retain moisture.

5. Make your skin glow: collagen is the supporting structure of the skin.  Along with water, it makes up the bulk of the dermis.  As we age, collagen production plummets, which causes the skin to droop, pucker, appear sallow and wrinkle.  To stimulate collagen formation, apply a topical vitamin C serum every morning as well as obtaining regular laser therapy treatments to improve the blood supply to your skin and regeneration of your cells.

6. Smooth away fine lines: to help your skin retain moisture and reduce fine lines, wrinkles and age associated skin discoloration, use a nightly retinol cream to increase cell turnover as well as, obtaining regular acupuncture treatments to increase the flow of blood and Qi throughout your face to stimulate your skin's supply of nutrients, circulation and oxygen.

7. Use a moisturizer: an easy way to keep your skin hydrated is to use a moisturizer that contains both hyaluronic acid and essential fatty acids to produce immediate results in your appearance.  Hyaluronic acid binds with water to prevent evaporation, while essential fatty acids seal moisture into the skin.
